Back in action quickly after their Women's T20 World Cup triumph, the White Ferns have lost their first ODI match by 59 runs to India in Ahmedabad after an experimental batting lineup.
After winning the toss and batting first the home side reached a reasonable total of 227 in the 44th over with the Kerr sisters, Amelia and Jess, picking up seven wickets between them.

In reply, New Zealand lost Suzie Bates for one in the second over and then regular wickets fell to be all out for 168 in the 41st over.
Georgia Plimmer and Lauren Down both got starts for 25 and 26 respectively while Brooke Halliday made 39 and Maddy Green 31 to steady the innings.
Amelia Kerr found herself batting at number eight in the order and still made 25 not out from 23 balls, but no player was able to go on with their innings.
Captain Sophie Devine made two, Izzy Gaze nine, Jess Kerr three, Molly Penfold one and Eden Carson was run out for no score.
Brooke Halliday made 39, Maddy Green 31 and Lauren Down 26.
It was India's second ODI win in their last eight games against New Zealand.
The second game of the three game series is at the same ground on Sunday night.
