Tyler Wood takes big win in NZ, Stroke Play

Tyler Wood has been crowned the runaway winner of the men's New Zealand Stroke Play title at Paraparaumu Beach Golf Club.


Wood from the Ngahinapouri Gold Club in the Waikato finished at 22-under a staggering 10 shots from Cameron Harlock and Josh Geary at 12-under after final rounds of 67 each.

In the third round Wood had equalled a course record 62. On the final day he carded a 67.


Amateur champion Robby Turnbull was third at 10-under. Mark Brown and Jake Meenhorst were next at nine-under with Yuki Miya, Tyler Hodge, James Hydes and Cooper Moore all at sevne-under.


Wood had gone into the final day with a nine shot lead and picked up one more shot on a four-under round.


He hit birdies on the third, seventh, 12th, 13th and final hole with just one blemish along the way on the 11th hole.


The women's title was won by Emma Zheng from the Royal Auckland and Grange Golf Club by two shots ahead of Elise Barber from the Shandon Golf Club in Lower Hutt.
