Hooker Codie Taylor and first-five Beauden Barrett will miss the All Blacks' test against Ireland through concussion protocols.

Barrett failed a head injury assessment (HIA) after leaving the field late in the 24-22 win over England on Saturday (Sunday NZ Time), while Taylor was replaced by Asafo Aumua early after appearing dazed.

It means Aumua and Damian McKenzie, who kicked a penalty and match-winning sideline conversion after coming on for Barrett, will likely start in their place against world No 1 Ireland at Dublin's Aviva Stadium on Friday (kick-off 9.10am Saturday NZT).

To maintain squad depth, Canterbury hooker Brodie McAlister and Auckland first-five Harry Plummer have joined from the All Blacks XV side that defeated Munster 38-24 on Saturday (Sunday NZT).

Outside back Ruben Love, who scored two tries on debut in the 64-19 victory over Japan in Yokohama the previous weekend, will return to the All Blacks squad, while All Blacks XV loose forward Christian Lio-Willie remains as extra cover.

Meanwhile, centre Billy Proctor, who was not in the matchday 23 against England, will return to New Zealand this week as he and his partner await the birth of their first child.
