Routliffe, Muhammad make Cincinnati final

Another win for Kiwi tennis player Erin Routliffe as she prepares to play her 19th career WTA doubles final, this time in the WTA 1000 event in Cincinnati.


The world No 1 is through to the final of the tournament with American Asia Muhammad after a straight sets win over Brit Harriet Dart and Ellen Perez of Australia on Saturday (Sunday NZ Time).


LATEST HEADLINES:


Routliffe, 29, and Muhammad won the match 7-6(5) 6-3 in 1 hour 42 minutes.


They will play Canadian Leylah Fernandez and Kazakh Yulina Putintseva for the title on Sunday (Monday NZT).


In the men's draw, Michael Venus and Brit Neal Skupski lost in the quarterfinals of the men's doubles in straight sets.


They were defeated by the top seeded combination of Marcel Granollers from Spain and Argentine Horacio Zeballos 6-4 6-4.
