Eventually Dabrowski served out the set 7-5 in a game which also featured two double faults and an ace.

In the second set the sides were evenly matched and continued trading shots until 6-6 when the rain came down with a stronger presence. They were off the court for around 30 minutes, however when they returned Routliffe and Dabrowski were fired up and took the tiebreak 7-3.

The match took two hours 22 minutes and will be a pleasing win for the top seeds.

They will now face either 10th seeds Hao-Ching Chan (Tapei) and Russian Veronika Kudermetova or the team of Harriet Dart (Britain) and Diane Parry (France) for a place in the final.
