Ravindra stars as Firebirds beat Aces

The Wellington Firebirds have used the talents of their international players to beat the Auckland Aces by six wickets with four balls to spare in Super Smash cricket at Eden Park Outer Oval.


Set 150 to win, the capital side made 152-4 with Rachin Ravindra scoring 48 off 37 balls incluidng three sixes and two fours.


LATEST HEADLINES:


Tom Blundell made 24 not out and Michael Bracewell 17 not out.


Earlier Auckland had its top four batters make good starts, but fail to career on.


Sean Solia compiled 23, Simon Keene 20, Lachlan Stackpole 22 and Bevon Jacobs 37,


Wickets were shared around the bowlers with Ravindra taking 2-32 and also taking a catch off the bowling off Ben Sears while Michael Snedden, Bracewell and Peter Younghusband all one wicket each.


In the women's match the Auckland Hearts won by 45 runs over the Wellington Blaze.


The Hearts made 160-5 thanks to 50 from Saachi Sharhri, 40 from internationals Izzy Gaze, Maddy Green 30 and Lauren Down 21. Maitlan Brown took 3-22.


For Wellington it wa no surprise that Amelia Kerr topo scored with 30 from 30 balls as an opener otherwise Hannah Darlington was the only other player to surpass 20 runs, finishing with 22.


Fran Jonas took 3-20 wguke Josie Penfold, Green and Bree Illing all took one each.
