New Zealand golfers down leaderboards

All of the kiwis in action in US pro golf tournaments have work to do in their second rounds

The New Zealand golfing trio of Steven Alker, Richard Lee and Michael Long are off the pace at the US Senior Open after the first round.


Alker is tied for 65th at one-over, Long in a share of 84th at two-over and Lee a further shot back at three-over at the tournament, being held at the prestigious Newport Country Club in Rhode Island.


LATEST HEADLINES:


The tournament is led by Japan's Hiroyuki Fujita and Australian Richard Lee at seven-under.


Meanwhile, Ryan Fox is tied 75th at one under after his first round which featured three bogeys and four birdies at the PGA's latest event at the Detroit Golf Club.


He is nine shots off the lead of American Akshay Bhatia


At the Dow Championship LPGA event, Lydia Ko and Danielle Kang are one-over at the teams event after the first round


Three combinations lead at six-under. The projected cut is one-under.
