New Zealand golfer Lydia Ko has climbed seven places during the second round of the Women's Open.
The Paris Olympics gold medallist made four birdies and two bogeys in a two-under 70 at the Old Course at the 'Home of Golf' St Andrew's, Scotland on Friday (Saturday NZ Time), getting back into the top-10.
LATEST HEADLINES:
Ko moved from a share of 12th into a tie for fifth at three-under, but dropped from four back of the leader to five behind 36-hole leader, American Nelly Korda, who fired a four-under 68 to reach eight-under.
Starting at the 10th hole, the 27-year-old bogeyed the par-three 11th for the second straight day, before back-to-back birdies at the 14th and 15th to make the turn at one-under for the day.
She bogeyed the third, but responded with two straight birdies at the fourth and fifth holes to get to three-under.
Ko, who hit 12-of-16 fairways and 16-of-18 greens in regulation, while making 33 putts, will tee off her third round on Saturday at 2.10pm local time (12.10am Sunday NZT).
Meanwhile, Taranaki's Sam Jones has a lot of work to do entering the weekend at the DP World Tour's Danish Golf Championship.
Jones dropped 32 places as he was three-over through seven holes during the second round on Friday (Saturday NZT) at the Lubker Golf Resort in Aarhus, Denmark, before high winds suspended play.
The 27-year-old left-hander started the day in the tie for second at four-under but started his round bogey-double-bogey at the 10th and 11th, before making a birdie at the 14th and bogey at the 15th.
He is tied for 34th at one-under, still only four strokes off the lead and two above the projected cut-line at one-over, with 11 still to play in his second round, resuming Saturday at 8am local time (6pm NZT).
