Josh Geary has claimed another hometown victory, securing back-to-back wins at the Tauranga Open and marking his fifth title at the event and just a few days after his win at the Mount Open.

The win also extends his record to 10 Charles Tour victories, solidifying his position as the most successful player in the tour’s history.

Geary finished at -21 after four rounds of challenging golf on a firm and fast Tauranga Golf Club course.

With conditions were tricky, with dry weather making the greens firmer and faster than previous years, but Geary’s experience and steady game management helped him navigate the demanding layout.

Going into the final round the tournament became a two-horse race between Geary and rising amateur Jayden Ford.

Geary got off to a strong start, birdieing three of the first four holes, while Ford bogeyed the opening hole, making it tough to close the gap. Despite a determined effort, Ford was unable to stage a comeback.

Tyler Wood, James Hyde, and Kit Bittle were all in contention heading into the final day but couldn't find the form needed to challenge Geary’s lead in the final round.

Ford, one of New Zealand’s top amateur golfers, showed his class throughout the tournament and will now turn his attention to the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship in Japan, where he’ll compete for a coveted spot in The Masters and The Open.

Geary will now look ahead to the upcoming TSB Taranaki Open as he continues his strong form in the Jennian Homes Charles Tour.
