Jones carded a third round 79 on Saturday (Sunday NZ Time), featuring two triple-bogeys on the par-four fifth and ninth holes, plus four bogeys, to drop five places.
He did managed birdies on the seventh and 14th holes and is now tied 66th at 10-over for the tournament.
The New Zealander is 15 shots off the lead held by Irishman Rory McIlroy, who is alone in the lead at six-under.
Meanwhile, at LIV Golf's Chicago tournament, Kiwi Danny Lee was one of the big movers during the second round on Saturday (Sunday NZT).
Lee moved up 17 spots in a tie for 21st at one-over after firing a two-under 68 at the Bolingbrook Golf Club, sitting eight strokes behind leader, Spain's Jon Rahm.
The 32-year-old followed up his three-over 73 in the first round on Friday (Saturday NZT) with five birdies, a bogey and double-bogey.
On the PGA Tour Champions, Steven Alker sits just outside the top-10 after the second round of the Sanford Invitational in South Dakota.
Alker carded a three-under 67 on Saturday (Sunday NZT) to pick up one position into a share of 12th at three-under, five shots back of the leader, Australian Michael Wright.
The 52-year-old's round featured six birdies, including four straight from the 14th to 17th hole, along with three bogeys.
