LATEST HEADLINES:
Hawke's Bay stormed back with 17 unanswered points in the second half to overcome the Turbos, who have now lost nine straight NPC matches.
Down 26-14 with halftime approaching, former All Blacks halfback Folau Fakatava went over after a break from Australian wing Ben O'Donnell to close the gap, then first-five Danny Toala
broke through from close-range three minutes into the second half to pull level.
Fakatava crossed for his second try in the 67th minute when replacement lock Hunter Morrison busted through from the base of a ruck just outside the 22, with a simple draw-and-pass putting the halfback in under the posts.
Centre Nick Grigg scored the clincher in the right corner in the 76th minute, after a slick inside pass from reserve halfback Samuel Wye to Toala saw the Magpies storm onto attack.
Earlier, the Turbos surprised everyone when they jumped out to a 19-0 lead after 20 minutes, with tries from second-five James Tofa, first-five Reece MacDonald and halfback Jordi Viljoen.
After Hawke's Bay got back within five with tries from lock Frank Lochore and prop Pouri Rakete-Stones, wing Taniela Filimone extended the gap again with an easy intercept and 40m scamper.
In Round 5, Hawke's Bay defend the Ranfurly Shield against fellow unbeaten side Tasman at Napier's McLean Park on Saturday (kick-off 7.05pm), while Manawatu travel to Rotorua to face Bay of Plenty on Friday (kick-off 7.05pm).
Wellington rode a dominating first half to defeat a reeling Canterbury 46-21 at Rangiora's Showground Oval on Sunday.
Centre Peter Umaga-Jensen scored a first-half double and first-five Callum Harkin booted four conversions and a penalty to lead 31-0 at the break.
Umaga-Jensen's first came after a break from wing Pepesana Patafilo and his second was a 70m move between TJay Clarke, Riley Higgins, Patafilo and Umaga-Jensen. Earlier, lock Caleb Delany and halfback Kyle Preston scored for a 14-0 lead inside the quarter-hour.
Canterbury fought back in the second half, with three converted tries from James White, Ngani Punivai and Dallas McLeod, but Clarke and Jackson Garden-Bachop five-pointers helped the Lions stay out of reach.
