Josh Geary falls short, Hodge improves

Kiwi golfer Josh Geary has finished top five at the New South Wales Open at the Murray Downs Country Club but will be disappointed at what could have been.


Geary carded a final round two-over 73 to finish tied fifth at nine-under overall six shots behind the winner Lucas Herbert with LIV golfer Cam Smith tied second at 12-under

He birded the second, but bogeyed the third and then bookended two more bogeys on the seventh and eighth with birdies.


He then followed with bogeys on the 10th hole and 17th.


A steady player over the tournament was Tyler Hodge who carded a three-under final round 68 to be seven-under overall and tied seventh.


His final round featured bogeys on the seventh and eighth, but birdies at the fourth and ninth.


On the back nine he hit birdies on the 13th, 14th and 16th holes.


Kerry Mountcastle was the next best of the Kiwis tied 31st at three under after a final round 70. Harry Hillier was tied 36th at two under and Denzel ieremia was par for the tournament after a final round 74.
