New Zealand cyclist Finn Fisher-Black has been promoted to second on the 138km first stage of the Tour of UAE.


The 23-year-old riding for Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe crossed third but was impeded by Jasper Philipsen during a sprint finish won by Italian, Jonathan Milan .

Milan claimed victory on the challenging finish at Liwa Palace, securing his first-ever win at the UAE Tour.event.


Lidl-Trek rider Milan, timed his sprint perfectly to edge out Philipsen – later relegated to 52nd place for irregular sprinting something Fisher-Black was not happy about in a sometimes heated sprint to the line.


Fellow Kiwi Aaron Gate riding for the Astana team was sixth. Reuben Thompson 37th and Logan Currie further down the standings.
