One of the biggest names in women's cricket, Australian Ellyse Perry will play for the Wellington Blaze in the Super Smash T20 domestic competition.


Perry has signed to play in the first two Super Smash games for the Blaze and will team up with White Ferns star Amelia Kerr.

The 34-year-old has appeared in over 300 games for her country and recently played at the Basin Reserve as Australia won the Rose Bowl against the White Ferns.


Perry will only be able to play a couple of matches for the Blaze as she has to return to Australia to be part of the Women's Ashes.


Wellington's first game is against the Northern Brave in Hamilton January 1 with their second against the Central Hinds in Nelson January 4.


Perry has a batting average 31 and has taken 126 wickets at an average of 18.78 in T20 internationals.


She has also played 134 games in the women's Big Bash in Australia with a batting average of 49 and has taken 70 wickets at an average of 32.
