Already guaranteed a place in the three-boat SailGP Grand Final in San Francisco in late June, the Peter Burling-skippered NZ Team finished fifth, second, fourth, fifth and fifth in fleet racing on Halifax Harbour.
The Black Foils were in a good position after day one, second behind Team Great Britain but two fifth placings dropped them out of the top-three.
New Zealand still lead the championship on 83 points, with just one event remaining in the regular season. Spain are second on 72 and Australia third on 71, with France (65) and Denmark (64) still in with a chance to reach the Grand Final.
The next event is the New York Sail Grand Prix in the shadow of the Statue of Liberty on June 22-23.
