New Zealand driver Nick Cassidy has finished third in the latest Formula E race at Misano, Italy after a daring overtaking manoeuvre near the finish line.

In a crowded last few hundred metres Cassidy moved on the inside of Switzerland's Nico Muller to take his place on the podium.

It was Cassidy's fourth podium for Jaguar racing this season.

German Pascal Wehrlein won the race from Britain's Jake Dennis.

"I’m happy with the result today. It has been tough three races for me, so I'm really pleased to be back on the podium. The late battle with Nico until the end made for a close finish. Thank you to all of the team and now we turn our focus on Monaco," said Cassidy.

Cassidy now sits fourth on the overall points ladder, 13 off the leader Wehrlein on 89 points, followed by Brits, Dennis and Oliver Rowland.

Fellow Kiwi Mitch Evans finished down the order in 17th and has dropped to seventh in the standings.

The next event is a single race at Monaco later this month.
