Chad Bowes' explosive start to the domestic cricket season has continued in the red-ball format.
Opener Bowes blasted 107 from 113 balls on the opening day of the four-day Plunket Shield on Monday, as Canterbury posted 361-9 against Northern Districts at Christchurch's Hagley Oval.

Bowes, who scored the world's fastest List-A double-century two weeks ago in the Ford Trophy, struck 13 fours and a six in his innings. When he was dismissed, at 200-4, he had scored more than 50 percent of Canterbury's runs.
He and Black Caps captain Tom Latham (33 from 70) put on 79 runs for the opening wicket, while there was help from Cole McConchie (16 from 35) and Matt Boyle (59 from 90), pushing the hosts towards 300.
Gus McKenzie (36 from 59) and Sean Davey (45 not out from 50) combined to add 60 runs for the ninth wicket, before declaration.
Kristian Clarke was the best of Northern's bowlers, taking 4-83 from 20 overs, while Matt Fisher took two wickets.
At the Basin Reserve, NZ-born Netherlands international Logan van Beek was the standout, with a five-wicket bag as the Wellington Firebirds dismissed the Auckland Aces for 184.
Van Beek took 5-53 from 15 overs, including the crucial scalps of Sean Solia and Michael Sclanders, while Liam Dudding finished with figures of 3-57 from 13.2, including the wickets of Finn Allen and Will O'Donnell.
Bevon Jacobs, another van Beek victim, top-scored for Auckland with 75 from 100, including 10 fours and three sixes.
Wellington's reply was in danger at 126-6 at stumps as Danru Ferns took three wickets and Jordan Sussex two. Black Caps opener Devon Conway scored 36 from 95 and van Beek was 37 not out from 32.
In the first round's other match at Napier's McLean Park, Otago and Central Districts are evenly poised after day one.
Central's Brett Randell took 4-21 from 11.1, Blair Tickner 3-38 from 17 and Jayden Lennox 2-39 from 11.3 as Otago were dismissed for 203 in the 65th over.
Wicketkeeper Max Chu top-scored with 85 from 106, including 11 fours and two sixes, adding 71 runs with Travis Muller (31 from 87) for the ninth wicket.
In response, Central were 63-4 at stumps, with the wickets spread around. Brad Schmulian and Tom Bruce compiled 39 for the third wicket.
