The third and final ODI cricket match between New Zealand and Sri Lanka in Pallekele was abandoned due to rain.


The Black Caps led by Mitchell Santner won the toss and chose to bat first working their way to 112-1 from 21 overs when the rain started to fall.

Ironically it was their best start of the series with Will Young unbeaten on 56 from 68 balls and Henry Nicholls 46.


Tim Robinson was out for nine from seven balls after hitting two fours in his innings.


Sri Lanka won the first two games to take the series 2-0, in their fifth ODI series win this year.


Zak Foulkes was making his ODI debut while replacement Adam Milne was also set to play his first game on tour.


The Black Caps play a three test series against England started in Christchurch on 28 November.
