The Black Caps will stay with a four-prong seam attack and play an unchanged XI in the second cricket test against England at the Basin Reserve in Wellington.

Despite the eight wicket defeat in the first test at Hagley Oval the team remains the same, even with Mitch Santner joining them in the capital.

The Basin Reserve had Australian spinner Nathan Lyon take 10 wickets in March while allrounder Glenn Phillips took 5-45 in Australia’s second innings.

The New Zealand attack created ample opportunities as England racked up 499 in the first innings of the first test, with eight dropped catches dooming their chances before the tourists easily completed a chase of 104.

Matt Henry snared five wickets in the match while debutant Nathan Smith could have had several in the first innings if catches hadn't been put down. Will O’Rourke had the pace, but not necessarily the wickets in Christchurch, while Tim Southee struggled to get the wickets he wanted.

In the batting Will Young still doesn't make the cut while Devon Conway is searching for runs at the top of the order while Tom Blundell has also been out of form.

Tom Latham, Kane Williamson, Rachin Ravindra and Daryl Mitchell all showed glimpses of form in the first test loss to England while down the order Glenn Phillips proved successful with the bat.
