The Black Caps have created history after doing the unthinkable in Pune, India.

They've won a test series in India for the first time, ending the record of the home not losing a series since 2012.

Allrounder Glenn Phillips later called the victory a "pretty epic feeling" and said "test cricket wins are hard come by, so you've got to celebrate them."

The best of the Indian batters was Ravindra Jadeja with 42 while Ravichandran Ashwin made 18. But aside from opener Yashasvi Jaiswal making 77 the top order lacked any substance as Santner put on the pressure while Ajaz Patel took two wickets and Phillips dismissed Washington Sundar.

Just under a week ago New Zealand won the first test at Bengaluru by eight wickets. The third test starts on Friday at Wankhede.
