Black Caps bowling earns win vs Sri Lanka

The Black Caps have scored an eight run victory over Sri Lanka at Bay Oval in Mt Maunganui in the first of three T20's.

The Black Caps have scored an eight run victory over Sri Lanka at Bay Oval in Mt Maunganui in the first of three T20's.


New Zealand made 172 for 8 thanks mainly to a 106 run partnership from Daryl Mitchell who eventually made 62 off 42 balls and 59 by Michael Bracewell from 33 including four sixes and four fours.


LATEST HEADLINES:


Only Tim Robinson with 11 and Mark Chapman 15 made double figures out of the rest of the home batters. Rachin Ravindra played in the unfamiliar position of opener.


In reply Sri Lanka scored 164 for 8 with openers Pathum Missanka 90 and and Kusal Mendis 46. No other Sri Lankan player reached double figures.


Kusal Perera and Kamindu Mendis came in at three and four in the order and both went for not score thanks to the combination of Jacob Duffy and Mitch Hay behind the stumps.


Duffy had the best bowling figures of 3-21 from his four overs while Zak Foulkes and Matt Henry took two wickets each.


The second match, also at Mt Maunganui is December 30th.
