Another loss for White Ferns against England

England have continued their dominance over the White Ferns with an easy 59-run win in the opening T20 at Southampton.


The home side scored 197-3 and in reply New Zealand made 138-9.


LATEST HEADLINES:


Batting first England had openers Danni Wyatt make 76 from 51 balls including 11 fours and one six. Maia Bouchier scored 32 from 26 and Nat Sciver-Brunt 47 from 23.


The not out batters were Freya Kemp with 26 from 17 and captain Heather Knight with 4 as they carted the New Zealand bowlers around the ground.


The White Ferns tried seven players with the ball with Lea Tahuhu taking two wickets at an economy of 8.25 and Eden Carson the other wicket.


At bat the New Zealand side struggled with Suzie Bates scoring 43 from 33 including five fours and one six.


Next best was Jess Kerr down the order making 38 and sister Amelia 18. Brook Halliday and Tahuhu were the only other players to make doubles figures as they scored 17 each.


Spinner Sarah Glenn was the key bowler for the home side taking 3-16 from here four overs.


Game two of the five match series is on Wednesday at Hove.
