It's now official that All Blacks Rugby Sevens star Moses Leo will join Melbourne Storm’s NRL squad from the 2026 season after signing a two-year contract.

Leo, who was in the New Zealand team at the Paris Olympics, has been identified by Storm’s recruitment team as a player who can fill a number of outside back positions, including wing, centre and fullback.

Leo who plays his NPC rugby for North Habour made his All Blacks rugby sevens debut in Singapore in 2022 and has now played 82 matches.

He was a member of the bronze medal-winning All Black sevens team at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Leo will fulfil his contract with NZ Rugby in 2025 before relocating to Melbourne. His Storm contract covers the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

Storm director of football Frank Ponissi said the club was looking forward to welcoming the new signing for the start of 2026 pre-season.

“We’re very impressed with Moses’s qualities and the strong desire he has to test his skills in rugby league,” he said.

“Although we won’t get to see him until November next year, signing Moses is a look to the future. It’s important we continue to build our list, especially with the prospect of new teams joining the competition.”

The Storm previously recruited former All Blacks sevens player Will Warbrick in 2021.
